THANATOS To Take Break From Live Performances
September 13, 2005Long-running Dutch death/thrash metal band THANATOS have posted the following message on their web site:
"We're sad to announce that the show we played in Leiden last weekend has been the last show for quite some time. Stephan's [Gebédi; guitar, vocals] problems turned out to be a neck hernia. He may have to go through surgery but a period of rest for several months might prevent this.
"Not being able to perform for a couple of months however gives us more time to focus on new material for the next album.
"We're planning to record the next album in February/March 2006 now. Because of Stephan's limitations (physical not mental!!!),Paul [Baayens; guitar] and Marco [de Bruin; bass] will be handling some more guitar duties in the studio. The new material ranges from the fastest song we’ve ever written to an all out doom epic so be prepared for more extremes than ever.
"Remember the two tracks we recorded in the Excess studios a couple of months ago?! They will be released as a limited edition 7" vinyl EP through Singapore-based Konqueror Records. This will be our first 7" single ever, so we're kinda excited to be putting out some old fashioned vinyl again after all these years!
"The songs ('And Jesus Wept' and [DARK ANGEL cover] 'The Burning of Sodom') will be mixed at the Excess studio later this month and we’re aiming at a January 2006 release.
"Talking about vinyl, we’d really like to have our 'Undead.Unholy.Divine.' album out on vinyl, so if there are any interested labels out there, please get in touch with us or Black Lotus Records."
THANATOS' fourth album, "Undead. Unholy. Divine", was released last summer through Greece's Black Lotus Records. The follow-up to 2000's "Angelic Encounters", "Undead. Unholy. Divine" was produced by Hans Pieters and the band at Excess Studios and was mastered by Attie Bauw (JUDAS PRIEST, SCORPIONS, GOREFEST).
